Game Recap

The Mountaineers hosted Draughn in SMAC soccer action Monday night. Little time was waisted by the home team as Nolan Raby set up Weston Harmon on a thru pass that he slotted into the right corner for a 1-0 advantage just sixteen seconds into the game. Three and a half minutes later it was Harmon who assisted Jordan Sweezy with a square pass that he hammered into the left upper 90 of the goal. Luke Rikard got into the books with 2 more foals less than a minute apart. He received passes from Mason Nguyen and and Chase Yow. That is the way the half ended with the Mountaineers leading 4-0. The second half started with another flurry of goals as Weston Harmon and Luke Rikard each tallied again in the first 2 minutes of the second period. Bailey Goodson and Nolan Raby assisted on those goals. Five minutes later, Harmon tallied his third goal with help coming from Sweezy. Josh Scism scored off the right flank as he blasted a low shot to the near right side of the goal for a 8-0 advantage with 20 minutes remaining in the second half. Freshman Brandon Quevedo-Johns set up Scism on a perfectly paced thru ball. The final goal of the match was by Adam Kiser as he was taken down in the box. He calmly placed the low driven ball to the keeper’s left for the last goal of the match. This is the first time in the men’s KMHS’s history of soccer that two players each had a hat trick! The host Mountaineers with the victory are 7-2 in conference play and 10-2 overall. This is the first time in twenty years that the Mountaineers have won 10 games or more in a season. On Monday, the Crest Chargers will host the Mounties in another SMAC conference match!
